Hi, I'm Lukas
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Berlin, Germany.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually opened a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Germany wasn’t in the original plan for the long haul. As with many international relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more substantial.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, routines, and expectations. Everyday chores seemed more complicated than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of learning by doing. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began constructing something that felt stable.
Why I Built Nolva Retiqa
Most online guidance fell into two camps: corporate relocation advice or superficial tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in Germany.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Germany
- Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
- Updated only when there is a real change
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review site
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Germany goes on, and so does the learning process. As long as the information remains helpful, I will continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Berlin or anywhere in Germany, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Lukas
